Metric Trapezoidal Lead Screws for Linear Motion
Trapezoidal thread lead screws are used to turn rotary motion into linear movement. The screw works together with a matching nut to move or hold a component along the shaft.
Compared with a normal threaded rod, a trapezoidal thread is made for motion rather than fastening. The thread form also gives good load support and is commonly used for positioning and lifting mechanisms. Metric trapezoidal threads normally use a 30° thread angle.

Select the Screw by Thread Size
For a lead screw, the diameter alone is not enough.
A designation such as Tr20×4 gives the basic thread diameter and lead. The number of starts also matters when selecting the screw for a machine.
For example, a single-start screw moves one lead per revolution. A multi-start screw can move farther with each revolution, so the screw selection should be based on the required travel, speed and load.
We can supply different thread sizes, lengths and end-machined designs. Standard metric trapezoidal screws are available, with custom dimensions made according to drawing.

1. Is a trapezoidal threaded rod the same as a normal threaded rod?
No. A normal threaded rod is mainly used for fastening. A trapezoidal lead screw is designed to transfer rotary motion into linear motion.
2. What does Tr20×4 mean?
"Tr" indicates a metric trapezoidal thread. 20 is the nominal diameter and 4 is the lead. The complete specification should also consider the number of starts and thread direction.
3. Can you supply the nut together with the lead screw?
